About The Position

This is a seasonal position from October to December. The mover/helper is responsible for loading and unloading vehicles containing household goods, office furniture, or other goods in a safe and careful manner. This role involves assisting in vehicle inspections, preparation, and ensuring all materials are securely loaded. The position also requires writing accurate inventories and assisting the crew leader and warehouse operations as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) and one to three months related training
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend instructions communicated in English.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one - or two - step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • Energetic - Ability to work at a sustained pace and produce quality work.
  • Enthusiastic - Ability to bring energy to the performance of a task.
  • Demeanor - Ability to exhibit a professional demeanor toward others.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

  • Must frequently lift and/or move more than 75 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 250 pounds with the assistance of others and proper equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the inspection of the truck assigned for noted damages, flat or worn tires and travel worthiness.
  • Assists in the preparation of vehicle before leaving warehouse to assure that all materials are placed on vehicle and that any defects are noted and all fluid levels are checked and taken care of.
  • Properly and safely lifts, packs, loads and unloads the vehicle as required.
  • Writes complete and accurate inventory of household contents, office furniture or other goods when required.
  • Assists in any capacity as directed by the crew leader on the assigned job.
  • Assists when necessary, in any operation of the warehouse.
