About The Position

U-Haul is seeking a responsible, motivated, and thoughtful individual to learn how to manage one of their moving and storage centers. As a General Manager Trainee, the role involves understanding how to make rental facilities profitable and efficient by managing inventory and equipment, and solving problems as they arise. Managing a U-Haul moving and storage center is described as varied, fast-paced, and rewarding work. U-Haul's motto is 'Hire Fast, Pay Fast,' offering immediate start and payment, including paid hands-on working interviews and a $100 hiring bonus. An additional $300 cash bonus is paid upon completion of the 1-2-3 Punch Certification Program. U-Haul, founded in 1945 by L.S. 'Sam' Shoen and Anna Mary Carty Shoen, addressed the post-WWII need for one-way, nationwide do-it-yourself moving equipment, thereby creating an industry.

Requirements

1-3 years of management experience in retail or another service industry with responsibility for financial results and customer satisfaction
Computer expertise
Organizational expertise
Management proficiency in high-volume retail with profit and loss (P&L) accountability
Valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain a good driving record
High school diploma or equivalent
Able to work weekends and holidays

Responsibilities

Manage the fleet to deliver clean and well-maintained equipment
Track and itemize inventory
Ensure that customers receive the highest quality of care
Keep track of fuel receipts and petty cash
Clean and monitor the premises, and maintain a secure environment
Participate in ongoing continuous U-Haul education through U-Haul University
