Manually move freight, stock, or other materials and performs other unskilled general labor. Loads and unloads materials to and from designated storage areas, such as racks and shelves, or vehicles, such as trucks/trailers/oversea containers. Sorts and stores items according to specifications. Assembles product containers and crates, using hand tools and precut lumber. Attaches identifying tags or marks information on containers. Cleans work area, using brooms, rags, and cleaning compounds. Installs protective devices, such as bracing, padding or strapping, to prevent shifting or damage to items being transported. Reads work orders or receives and listens to oral instructions to determine work assignment. Ensures all items are accounted for using a “Check Off Sheet” and a “Rider” to list any damages or missing pieces/parts. Responsible for palletizing all items using furniture pads to ensure they are protected while in storage. Responsible for properly listing all items being stored in vaults, OS or on pallets. Scans in Pallets/Vaults/OS Floor Locations/Trailers using scanners to identify customer’s inventory. Properly place placards on all items to ensure proper inventory control. Responsible for changing trash receptacles around warehouse and company property as needed. Salting and shoveling walkways during inclement weather to ensure safe passage for employees/customers walking to and from building. Attend safety meetings as required. Other duties as assigned.
