About The Position
The M ountain Village Private Lesson Manager plays a critical leadership role within Big Sky Resort's Mountain Sports School. This position oversees all private lesson operations at M ountain Villag e, with a focus on delivering exceptional guest experiences and supporting the development of a high-performing team of instructors. This role combines instructor development , guest experience management, and operational coordination. The manager is responsible for aligning staffing with demand, optimizing instructor utilization , and ensuring consistency across pr ivate lessons including Montage lessons. We are looking for a dynamic leader who thrives in a fast-paced mountain environment, is passionate about snowsports education, and excels in leadership, operational coordination , and guest service excellence.
Requirements
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a snowsports school environment preferred.
- Prior experience as a snowsports instructor required .
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to lead and inspire a diverse team in a dynamic outdoor environment.
- Commitment to delivering world-class guest experiences.
Nice To Haves
- PSIA/AASI Level 3 certification and NRM e xaminer strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Instructor Leadership & Development Maintain positive, inclusive, inspired work environment
- Manage , coach, and mentor private lesson instructors based at M ountain Village .
- Provide on-snow training, performance feedback, and ongoing support.
- Foster a culture of professionalism, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Premium Experience Management Ensure the delivery of high-quality lessons .
- Match guests with the right instructor to optimize learning outcomes and guest/ instructor satisfaction.
- Uphold consistent service standards across all premium lesson products.
- Operational Responsibilities Run private lessons programming to meet or exceed budget to support overall Mountain Sports and BSR goals; responsible for managing product inventories and staff scheduling
- Oversee daily M ountain Villag e private lesson operations, ensuring efficient workflows and timely executio n .
- Oversee Summit Pursuits programming and seasonal Master the Mountain program
- Collaborate with the M adison Base Private Lesson Supervisor, Private Lesson Booking Coordinators, and Montage Manager to align practices and maintain consistency between bases.
- Cooperate, coordinate, and collaborate with all Mountain Sports Managers to grow a cohesive Mountain Sports School
- Monitor guest demand and manage private lesson caps to balance service quality and availability.
- Maximize instructor utilization by proactively adjusting schedules and reallocating staff between Madison Base and Mountain Village as needed.
- Develop strong relationship s throughout our resort and partner properties .
- Conduct mid - season reviews and end of season debriefs for M ountain Village private lesson instructors.
