About The Position

We’re looking for Mountain Host professionals to join our team in Girdwood, Alaska. As a Mountain Host, your role is to be proactive in public relations to enhance the Guest Experience while visiting Alyeska. Mountain Hosts emphasize a high level of communication and teamwork among themselves and with other departments across the resort, creating a positive presence on the mountain by interacting with guests in a professional manner including appearance, conduct, and attitude.

Requirements

Positive attitude that supports Alyeska’s commitment to quality guest service.
Thorough knowledge of Alyeska Resort – including on-mountain services, ski trails, and lifts
Someone who loves the mountains.
Will treat everyone with courtesy and respect.
Excellent skiing ability and have the capability to ski or snowboard in a variety of variable snow conditions.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Basic knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

Help build a culture of safety and fun on the mountain.
Be prepared to perform assigned duties in severe weather including, but not limited to, high winds, heavy snowfall, poor visibility, and rain.
Assist guests in the arrival and departure of parking lots and base facilities; assist guests with directions, information, and public relations.
Set up ski information boards, ski racks, and picnic tables.
Remove snow with shovels or snow blowers.
Perform line control at lifts and assist with lift-down situations.
Lead 1 hour mountain tours twice during the day.
Be an ambassador at all lift locations during the day to provide information and promote Alyeska Resort and all available product offerings.
Maintain vigilance for a safe mountain experience by monitoring mountain ski runs for injured guests and/or guests needing assistance. This monitoring includes notifying mountain dispatch of anyone needing help and staying with the individual until ski patrol arrives.
Maintain updated knowledge of products and services available to guests and staff across Alyeska Resort and the local community.
Attend and participate in Mountain Host team meetings.
Contribute ideas and solutions that enhance the guest experience wherever possible.
