About The Position

The Mountain Ambassador (Mtn Host) role is to provide guests with an enjoyable experience. As a Mtn Host, you may be the first point of contact for guests at Tamarack Resort. Your responsibility is to learn and accurately provide information about Tamarack Resort, Donnelly, and the surrounding areas. You will also assist in managing crowds in ticket lines, lift lines, and on shuttles, potentially performing additional shifts. You will demonstrate excellence in guest service by consistently showing respect for internal and external guests and possess good conflict resolution skills to handle issues or concerns. This job description is a broad overview of duties, and specific details can be found in the Mtn Host Operations Manual. Requirements

  • Prior customer service or resort industry experience preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and taste or smell.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must have own reliable source of transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guests with an enjoyable experience.
  • Serve as a point of contact for guests at Tamarack Resort.
  • Learn and accurately provide information about Tamarack Resort, Donnelly, and surrounding areas.
  • Assist in lift lines and control crowds in ticket lines, lift lines, and shuttles.
  • Demonstrate excellence in guest service by displaying respect for internal and external guests.
  • Handle issues or concerns with good conflict resolution skills.
  • Attend fall employee orientation and Mtn Host training.
  • Work weekends and holidays (Winter and Summer).
  • Commit to working a minimum of 50 hours (25 two-hour shifts) of Mtn Host shifts.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions for extended periods.
  • Stand for long periods, potentially in ski boots.
  • Walk up and down steep, deep, and/or slippery grades.
  • Lift fallen skiers and carry materials.
  • Speak clearly and distinctly.
  • Converse freely with guests.
  • Relay information about the resort, town, and surrounding area to guests.
  • Control large crowds in ticket lines, lift lines, and shuttles.
  • Skiing staff must be able to ski at an ability level to safely negotiate all intermediate terrain.
  • Assist ski patrol when requested.
  • Maintain reliable attendance on all scheduled workdays.
  • Establish and maintain productive work relationships with co-workers, staff, supervisors, and management.

  • Handle stressful situations with tact and good judgment.
