About The Position

The Assistant Mountain Activities Manager is responsible for directing the day-to-day operations of the ski shop and assisting the Recreation Manager with administrative tasks. This role requires managing staff on the floor, delegating opening and closing duties, critical thinking to troubleshoot issues, and positive guest interaction. The position also involves assisting with administrative duties such as scheduling, payroll, ordering, interviewing, digital communications, coaching, and disciplinary actions. Additionally, the role includes performing ski and snowboard rentals, retail sales, attending to guest needs with excellent product knowledge, maintaining a clean workspace, attending leadership meetings, merchandising retail, driving revenue, renting ski equipment, and motivating staff. The candidate must be able to schedule all Mountain Activities staff to ensure maximum guest satisfaction within budgeted guidelines, communicate proper time clock, grooming, and uniform procedures, and understand payroll and forecast needs. A key aspect of the role is possessing knowledge of local outdoor activities and establishing contacts for guest information, ticketing, and reservations, as well as clearly communicating detailed knowledge of the Jackson area. The Assistant Mountain Activities Manager will work closely with Front Office staff to handle groups, VIPs, and return guests, establishing rapport and keeping staff informed of guest preferences. The ability to resolve guest complaints in conjunction with the Department Head, keeping senior management informed of issues and actions taken, is also crucial, with written email follow-ups required.

Requirements

  • Previous ski shop, retail shop, or supervisory experience required.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule in order to accomplish all major responsibilities. This may include evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Candidates must have excellent personal presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • This position requires the ability to lift, push pull up to 50lb.
  • Successful candidate must possess legal work authorization in the United States
  • Position is for Winter season only. Must be available November 2026-April 2027

  • Clearly communicating a detailed knowledge of the Jackson area.
  • Working closely with the Front Office staff in the handling of groups, VIPs, return guests, etc.
  • Establishing rapport with frequent visitors; keeping Reservations and Front Office staff well-informed about guests' preferences.
  • Resolving guest complaints in conjunction with the Department Head, keeping senior management well informed as to the problems and actions taken. Written e-mail to follow to keep all informed.
