About The Position

Southern Lumber & Millwork is hiring a full-time Moulder Operator to join our manufacturing team in Charleston, South Carolina. For more than 85 years, our family-owned and operated company has supplied builders, contractors, architects, and homeowners throughout Charleston and the Lowcountry with quality lumber, building materials, custom millwork, and moulding. Our Moulder Shop produces approximately six million linear feet of stock and custom moulding each year. As a Moulder Operator, you will work alongside an experienced team to run industrial moulding machines, produce custom and stock moulding profiles, and ensure every finished product meets our quality standards.

Requirements

  • Be able to lift, carry, and move at least 50 pounds consistently throughout the workday
  • Be comfortable performing physical work while standing and moving for extended periods
  • Be able to work safely around industrial woodworking machinery
  • Follow instructions and complete assigned work accurately
  • Communicate clearly and work effectively as part of a production team
  • Maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Be dependable and arrive ready to work each day

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience operating moulding machines, woodworking equipment, manufacturing machinery, or production equipment is preferred.
  • Experience in millwork, lumber, carpentry, cabinetmaking, or wood products manufacturing is also valuable.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and monitor industrial moulding machines
  • Produce custom and stock moulding profiles according to specifications
  • Feed lumber and other materials through moulding equipment
  • Inspect finished moulding for accuracy, consistency, and quality
  • Measure materials and confirm that finished profiles meet required dimensions
  • Assist with machine adjustments and changeovers between moulding profiles
  • Identify and communicate production or quality concerns
  • Work closely with other Moulder Shop team members to meet production goals
  • Handle, stack, organize, and move raw materials and finished moulding
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe manufacturing environment
  • Follow all equipment operating procedures and workplace safety guidelines
