Virginia Peninsula Community College, a two-year institution serving the cities of Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, and Williamsburg, and the counties of James City and York, is seeking experienced motorcycle enthusiasts to teach noncredit motorcycle safety classes within its Workforce Development Division. These are part-time, non-credit adjunct instructor positions, contracted on a course-by-course basis as needed. The annual contracted hours will not exceed 1500. Contracted duties may encompass teaching contact hours, classroom preparation and closure, curriculum and lesson design, participant advising and support, and participant assignment assessment and evaluation. Teaching schedules can vary, including day, evening, weekend, and distance education classes, depending on course offerings and instructor availability. The Workforce Development programs focus on industry credential attainment and skill enhancement. While teaching experience is beneficial, it is not a strict requirement. However, professional experience and appropriate certification are essential, as students expect to learn from seasoned professionals with relevant field knowledge. The student population may include novices, those with partial training, or experienced technicians pursuing credentials.
