About The Position

This position reports to the Production Supervisor and is primarily responsible for repairing, refinishing, and restoring motorcoach bodies and body components to Village Travel quality standards. In addition, this role supports Village Coachworks projects as needed by assisting with motorcoach interior construction, component installation, facility maintenance, and build-related activities. The ideal candidate is skilled in body repair and finishing while possessing the versatility to contribute to coach conversion and customization projects.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) Certificate from college/technical school, related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in automotive, commercial vehicle, RV, bus, or related body repair and refinishing.
  • Ability to safely operate power tools, spray equipment, and shop machinery.
  • Working knowledge of body repair processes, painting procedures, and finishing techniques.
  • Ability to read and follow written, verbal, diagram, and schedule-based instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and assist across multiple departments.
  • Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Effective communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Having a CDL is desired but not required.
  • Cabinetry, woodworking, or general craftsmanship experience.
  • Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
  • Experience with motorcoach, RV, commercial vehicle, or custom vehicle conversions.
  • Build and assembly experience from project initiation through completion.
  • Experience using woodworking and fabrication tools.

Responsibilities

  • Operates and uses all body shop equipment properly and safely.
  • Masks and protects surfaces that are not to be repaired, painted or coated.
  • Fills scratches and repairs damaged parts with fiberglass and other approved materials.
  • Replaces un-repairable parts with new parts as needed.
  • Repair or assist in repairing structural damage to motorcoaches.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
  • Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer and per safety/OSHA regulations.
  • Comply with all safety regulations, OSHA requirements, and hazardous material handling procedures.
  • Cooperates and assists other personnel in the repair and prepping of vehicles.
  • Understands, keeps abreast of and complies with federal, state and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know etc.
  • Assist with motorcoach interior build and customization projects as workload requires – ex. Cabinetry, flooring, electrical, etc.
  • Support maintenance and improvement projects within the Coachworks facility, grounds, and equipment.
  • Assist with minor fabrication, finishing, and general construction tasks.
