About The Position

This position is currently part of a proposal effort and is not guaranteed currently. The role will become guaranteed once the contract is awarded and the position is formally modified. Amentum is seeking a Motor Pool Mechanic located in the Williamsburg area of Virginia. The Mechanic will repair, rebuilds, or overhauls major assemblies of internal combustion automobiles, buses, trucks or tractors.

Requirements

High school Diploma or GED
May involve lifting heavy parts, working in confined spaces, and operating in various weather conditions.
Proficiency in using hand tools and basic mechanical systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and maintenance procedures.
Understanding of vehicle systems, safety protocols, and fleet operations.
Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety standards.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Working knowledge of vehicles and mechanics.
Strong mechanical ability and problem-solving skills.
Able to work independently and stay productive.
Minimum 2-3 years' experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent.
Must possess an active government clearance at time of application.

Responsibilities

Repair, rebuilds, or overhauls major assemblies of internal combustion automobiles, buses, trucks or tractors.
Remove, install, and replace parts.
Troubleshoot, repair, modify, and overhaul vehicles and equipment.
Replace worn or broken parts such as piston rings, bearings, or other engine parts.
Grind and adjust valves.
Rebuild carburetors.
Overhaul transmissions.
Repair fuel injection, lighting, and ignition systems.
Follow maintenance manuals, schematics, and technical drawings.
Ensure vehicles meet safety and regulatory standards.
