About The Position

In this role, you will be responsible for the operation of motor equipment requiring a commercial driver’s license for the construction, repair, and maintenance of municipal rights-of-way and drainage systems. Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two (2) years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid SC Commercial Driver’s License Permit – Class B.
  • Must obtain Commercial Driver’s License – Class B within 6 months of employment.
  • May require evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
  • In the event of major storms or other emergency situations, this position may be subject to 24-hour shifts or any other emergency schedule that is necessary to meet the City’s needs.

Responsibilities

  • Drives and operates motor equipment such as dump trucks, asphalt trucks, rollers, bush hogs, tractors and similar motor equipment.
  • Completes work orders and daily worksheets.
  • Performs daily maintenance on equipment operated and maintains records of such maintenance.
  • May operate other heavy equipment such as backhoe or front-end loader when required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
