About The Position

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is an internationally accredited agency whose mission is to protect life and property, promote traffic safety and provide professional public safety services with respect, compassion, and unbiased professionalism. This position involves establishing priorities, supervising subordinate personnel, scheduling work assignments, and providing on-site direction and assistance to inspectors within assigned districts. The role ensures compliance with rules and regulations governing commercial motor carrier operations, compiles reports, and provides technical assistance to investigative personnel. Requirements

  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to calculate fractions, decimals & percentages.
  • 24 months of experience in supervisory principles & techniques.
  • Additional training & education commensurate with program area to be assigned per approved position description on file.
  • 24 months of experience as a Motor Carrier Enforcement Inspector, 23111.
  • Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
  • Must successfully obtain LEADS certification 6 months after employment.
  • Must re-certify in LEADS every two years as mandated by Ohio Administrative Code 4501:2-10-03 (C) (4).

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in commercial vehicle inspections, including vehicles hauling hazardous materials, cargo tank vehicles & motor coaches.

Responsibilities

  • Establish priorities & supervise subordinate personnel.
