About The Position
We are seeking a skilled and dynamic Motion Editor to join our fast-paced, creative team in New York City. This role is critical to the production of high-impact visual content across live news broadcasts, digital platforms, and on-air graphics. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in video editing and motion design, with a proven ability to deliver polished, timely, and visually compelling work under tight deadlines. You will be responsible for editing, animating, and finalizing motion graphics and video packages that enhance storytelling and engage audiences across multiple platforms. With a keen eye for detail, a strong sense of timing and rhythm, and a deep familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite—particularly Premiere Pro and AfterEffects—you will play a key role in shaping the visual identity of our content. Experience in a live news environment is highly valued and will be a significant differentiator in the selection process.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Film, Video Production, Graphic Design, Media Arts, or a related field.
- 2+ years of professional experience in video editing and motion graphics production.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, with expert-level skills in Premiere Pro and intermediate-to-advanced proficiency in AfterEffects , including the ability to customize and animate existing templates.
- A strong, professional reel demonstrating both video editing and motion design capabilities—showcasing a range of styles, pacing, and technical execution.
- Proven ability to work efficiently in high-pressure, deadline-driven environments.
- Understanding of broadcast standards, aspect ratios, frame rates, and delivery specifications.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to receive feedback and iterate quickly on creative deliverables.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working in a live news station or network environment (preferred, especially at a major network or large-market station).
- Prior experience producing content for live television, breaking news, or real-time broadcast environments.
- Familiarity with broadcast graphics systems (e.g., Chyron, Vizrt, or similar).
- Experience working in a collaborative, team-based production workflow with tight coordination between editors, designers, and on-air talent.
Responsibilities
- Edit and assemble video content for live news broadcasts, digital platforms, and promotional materials using Adobe Premiere Pro.
- Modify and animate pre-existing AfterEffects templates to create dynamic graphics, lower thirds, transitions, and animated packages.
- Collaborate with producers, directors, and graphic designers to ensure visual content aligns with storytelling goals and brand standards.
- Maintain and organize media assets, templates, and project files for efficient workflow and quick turnaround.
- Deliver final outputs in required formats and resolutions, ensuring technical compliance with broadcast and online delivery standards.
- Support live news operations by preparing and executing graphics packages with precision and speed during live or breaking news events.
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to file formats, rendering, and playback to ensure seamless production flow.
- Contribute creative input to improve visual storytelling and enhance audience engagement.
