About The Position

Intermission Film is an award-winning, full-service creative agency with studios in London, New York, Amsterdam and Melbourne. We partner with leading distributors, streamers and broadcasters to create trailers, promos, key art, creative content and socials for films and series audiences love. Recent campaigns include House of the Dragon, The Devil Wears Prada 2 and Avatar: Fire & Ash. We’re looking for a Motion Designer to join our global Motion Design team and support the creation of engaging graphics across film and TV marketing campaigns. This role, based in our New York City office, is ideal for a designer who is primarily focused on 2D motion graphics, has a solid foundation in typography and graphic design, and is keen to learn and grow within a fast-paced studio environment. You’ll work closely with senior designers, editors and producers, contributing to projects while developing your creative, technical and workflow skills. The salary range for this position is $75k - $90k depending on experience.

Requirements

Professional experience as a Motion Designer within a fast-paced creative, design or production environment.
A strong grounding in Motion Design and 2D animation, with confidence in your creative approach and a desire to keep developing.
An understanding of 3D - Element / Cinema 4D
Strong After Effects skills, with confident use of Illustrator and Photoshop as part of a motion workflow.
A solid understanding of typography, static design and motion principles.
Experience with tracking, rotoscoping and compositing.
Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to maintain high quality standards across deliverables.
Excellent time-management and organisational skills, able to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced and reactive environment.
A collaborative approach, with the ability to build effective working relationships across creative and production teams.

Responsibilities

Create high-quality motion graphics across social media, trailers, digital outdoor, feature content, and TV campaigns, working collaboratively within the Motion Design team.
Creatively interpret project briefs, translating ideas into strong and effective visual executions.
Bring fresh ideas and conceptual thinking to creative meetings and project discussions.
Contribute to research and development by sourcing and sharing strong creative references and visual approaches.
Build mood boards, presentations and visual research to support pitches and projects.
Work closely with editors to help shape projects and integrate graphics seamlessly into cuts.
Collaborate with producers and creative leads, with a strong focus on Social campaigns.
Create mock-ups of social campaign ideas for pitch decks and internal development.
Independently problem-solve creatively and technically, proposing effective solutions to new challenges.
Maintain high standards of quality control, organisation and attention to detail across all deliverables.
Take responsibility for meeting deadlines and proactively communicate with producers around timelines, priorities and delivery.
Collaborate with teams across Intermission’s global offices, ensuring communication is clear and handovers are effective.
Stay up to date with design trends, social media advertising in Film & TV, and wider platform trends (e.g. TikTok, Instagram).
Actively develop and refine skills, workflows and software knowledge to improve creative quality and efficiency.
