About The Position

Okta is seeking a craft-focused Motion Designer for its Brand & Creative team. The role balances development and maintenance of scalable motion-design systems with the creation of original, high-visibility animation for campaigns, events, social channels, digital experiences, and video. The designer will build modular After Effects templates, MOGRTs, reusable motion libraries, and documentation that help internal teams and agency partners create on-brand work. They will also conceive and deliver bespoke motion for flagship events, industry activations, brand campaigns, product launches, social content, and branded films. The Motion Designer will take assets from initial styleframes and storyboards through animation, audio synchronization, rendering, optimization, and delivery in formats for broadcast, web, social, and event displays. The role partners with a Senior Motion Designer, Creative Leads, video editors, producers, and other collaborators, while exploring new ways to express Okta’s visual identity in 2D and 3D.

Requirements

At least 3 years of dedicated motion-design experience at a fast-paced technology company, creative branding agency, or motion studio.
Ability to balance organized systems thinking and brand consistency with inventive, bespoke creative execution.
Expert-level proficiency in Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, and core Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including Illustrator and Photoshop.
Strong command of motion fundamentals, including kinetic typography, spatial staging, easing curves, rhythm, and visual hierarchy.
Hands-on experience developing modular After Effects templates, Essential Graphics/MOGRTs, and standardized project setups.
A portfolio and reel demonstrating work across event animations, campaign pieces, social content, and motion toolkits.
Knowledge of digital video formats, aspect ratios, frame rates, codecs, and rendering optimization for mobile, desktop, and large-format displays.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain motion-design rationale, respond to feedback, and work in an iterative environment.

Nice To Haves

Working knowledge of 3D motion design and rendering tools such as Cinema 4D, Blender, Redshift, or Octane.
Familiarity with writing After Effects expressions for automated, dynamic MOGRTs and templates.
Practical experience creating motion graphics for custom LED resolutions, spatial light mapping, or experiential digital signage.
Experience managing motion assets across multi-brand ecosystems or localizing toolkits for global marketing teams.

Responsibilities

Balance scalable motion-system work with custom animation for campaigns, events, digital experiences, and video.
Champion Okta’s motion guidelines and build, document, and maintain modular After Effects templates, Essential Graphics/MOGRTs, and reusable motion libraries.
Create bespoke motion packages for flagship events and industry activations, including keynote loops, speaker introductions, and stage graphics tailored to LED dimensions and experiential spaces.
Develop motion graphics, kinetic typography, and animated concepts for product launches, brand announcements, campaigns, and company milestones.
Create engaging motion content for social channels and other digital touchpoints, communicating enterprise security and AI narratives.
Collaborate with video editors and producers on title sequences, UI animations, motion overlays, customer case studies, product sizzles, and brand films.
Explore new dynamic expressions of Okta’s visual identity, iconography, and graphic elements across 2D and 3D spaces.
Own motion assets end to end, from styleframes and storyboards through animation, audio sync, rendering, compression, and delivery across multiple formats.
