About The Position

Formation Bio is looking for a talented Motion Designer to join our Brand team for the summer. This is a full-time, hands-on role for a creative who understands both storytelling and technology — someone who can translate complex product capabilities into compelling visual narratives for sophisticated audiences. You'll work at the intersection of product and brand, producing animated explainers, product demos, and social-first content that brings Formation Bio's platform to life. You'll collaborate closely with our Head of Brand & Communications, Senior Manager of Content, and product teams to ensure every asset is accurate, polished, and resonant. This role is a 3 month contract position, with full-time hours (or close to it) expected for the duration of the contract. Exact start and end dates are flexible.

Requirements

  • Strong portfolio showcasing motion graphics, animated explainers, or product demo work (portfolio required)
  • Proficiency in After Effects; ability to animate from Figma design files a plus
  • Experience with screen recording and demo capture workflows
  • Comfortable with voiceover production and narrative scripting
  • Proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or equivalent
  • Sharp eye for storytelling, composition, and visual style
  • Familiarity with social-first formats and platform-specific best practices
  • Experience creating content for tech, life sciences, finance, or other premium or technical brands preferred
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with tight turnarounds
  • Based in New York City and available to work on-site

Responsibilities

  • Ideate — Develop original concepts for animations, product demos, and brand content aligned with our voice and aesthetic
  • Animate — Create motion graphics and animated explainers that make technical concepts clear and visually engaging
  • Demo — Capture and edit high-quality product walkthroughs and screen recordings, with attention to pacing, narrative arc, and visual clarity
  • Produce — Own pre-production end-to-end: storyboards, scripts, shot lists, screen capture workflows, and asset coordination
  • Edit — Own post-production including cutting, color, sound design, voiceover integration, and motion graphics
  • Deliver — Format and optimize content for LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, and other relevant platforms
  • Collaborate — Work directly with Brand, Content, and Product teams to ensure accuracy, brand consistency, and audience fit
