About The Position

Shriners Children’s is seeking a Motion Analysis Center Physical Therapist (MAC PT) to provide evaluation and motion analysis center services. This role involves direct patient care, patient/family education, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to create individualized treatment plans for pediatric patients. The MAC PT will also conduct interdisciplinary team meetings, mentor students and professionals, and stay current with changes in the scope of practice, coding, and documentation. This position operates within the Shriners Hospitals for Children® FOCUSED©™ Program, emphasizing patient-centered care.

Requirements

BS, MS or DPT Program of Study: Physical Therapy
BS required
2 years of experience
Physical therapy background in pediatrics, neuromuscular conditions, sports, motion analysis interpretation.
Physical Therapy license

Motion lab experience preferred

Responsibilities

Provide evaluation and motion analysis center services, including direct patient care, patient/family education in an efficient, age-appropriate, and culturally sensitive manner.
Collaborate with the medical staff and the multidisciplinary team to design an individualized treatment plan to meet the needs of the pediatric patient and their family.
Conduct interdisciplinary team meetings to review MAC findings, interpretations, and recommendations.
Mentor and educate residents, students, and other professionals.
Maintain current knowledge in changes related to the scope of practice, coding/billing practices, compliant documentation, and compliant practice in a revenue cycle environment.
Provide exceptional care following the Shriners Hospitals for Children® FOCUSED©™ Program.
Competent in SMACnet standards for patient examination, including history/systems review, and selection/administration of specific tests and measures (e.g., range of motion, manual muscle testing, outcome measures, neurological testing).
Competent in basic collection of motion capture data, EMG, pedobarograph, video, and report generation.
Provide facility-specific clinical lines of service, including gait, upper extremity, spine, sports, and wheelchair analysis.
Provide patient and family education regarding the motion analysis evaluation.
Demonstrate effective and efficient use of time by maintaining a full caseload.
Ensure proper scheduling and coverage of all clinical care needs.
Assist with obtaining insurance authorization and participate in peer-to-peer calls with insurance companies as needed.
Cover rehabilitation needs during times of low volume.
Demonstrate proficiency in interpreting all data, including kinematics, kinetics, EMG, pedobarograph, O2 consumption, and video analysis.
Generate a concise and clearly written physical therapy evaluation summarizing and integrating motion lab findings.
Support risk management and compliance initiatives through accurate documentation.
Lead scheduled motion analysis patient reviews with MAC staff, physicians, and allied health professionals.
Assist the SMAC PT in obtaining and maintaining CMLA accreditation.
Function as a role model within the healthcare team, promoting a positive, organized, and safe work environment.
Assume responsibility for mentoring students, non-professional staff, volunteers, and new employees.
Facilitate positive relationships with other employees and serve as a resource for other healthcare team members.
Seek opportunities to participate in training/education to expand knowledge, advance clinical skills, and develop evidence-based best practice procedures.
Participate in departmental educational opportunities such as in-services, journal clubs, and annual mandatory competencies.
Participate in research and quality improvement projects as needed.
Represent the MAC in local hospital meetings as needed.
Pursue informal leadership opportunities including participation in departmental and interdisciplinary hospital-based committees.
Assist with publishing results of research studies in conference abstract proceedings or peer-reviewed journals as needed.
