Requirements

• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
• Must have a current and valid driver’s license.
• All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
• This position may require that incumbents wear and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment such as, but not limited to, steel toed shoes, safety glasses, gloves, or other designated safety attire and equipment in designated areas of risk.
• Must have or obtain a valid Registered Technicians License within six (6) months of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Six (6) months of experience in field such as laborer, maintenance, or construction worker utilizing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance work requiring the utilization of specific skills associated with drainage maintenance and the application of pesticides for mosquito control.
• Remove objects from work areas that impede drainage; bush and grade ditches to maintain efficient water runoff; apply larvicide to areas harboring mosquito larvae and pupae, avoiding the potential to harbor and reduce mosquito populations; apply adulticides in areas with known high levels of mosquito activity.
• Apply herbicide to areas where vegetation obstructs proper drainage; cut/ clear trees and heavy brush to gain access to drainage areas; mix and apply chemicals per specifications on the label for field applications
• Lift materials and other items to 50 lbs. regularly.
