About The Position

The Mortgage Underwriting & Appraisals area is responsible for evaluating mortgage applications and property valuations to ensure sound credit decisions, accurate risk assessment, and compliance with all regulatory and investor requirements. Activities may include: Analyzing borrower credit profiles, income, assets, and collateral Reviewing appraisal reports for accuracy and adherence to standards Determining the overall creditworthiness and risk level of mortgage requests Applying underwriting guidelines Identifying and mitigating potential risks Ensuring the integrity and consistency of valuation processes. The Mortgage Underwriting function is responsible for conducting a detailed credit analysis based on information furnished by the borrower, publicly available information, the lender's evaluation of the borrower's credit needs, and the ability to pay across a range of products against credit standards set by the organization. Mortgage Banking covers activities related to the origination and servicing of residential mortgage loans, including sales, underwriting, loan operations, secondary marketing, investor relations, and default. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Requires broad knowledge of operational procedures and tools obtained through extensive work experience and may require vocational or technical education.
  • Working under limited supervision for routine situations.
  • Providing assistance and training to lower level employees.
  • Problems typically are not routine and require analysis to understand.
  • Typically requires 5+ years relevant experience
  • May require vocational or technical training
