About The Position

This role is responsible for generating mortgage loan production through various channels including banking center leads, referral sources, realtors, builders, and networking groups. The Mortgage Banker II is expected to originate at least 60 units of first mortgage loans annually and cultivate referral relationships with NBH Banking Center Associates. Key responsibilities include aligning mortgage priorities with the client experience, ensuring compliance, and supporting sales strategy by monitoring market competition and trends. The role involves identifying referral sources, collaborating with internal stakeholders to increase the bank's presence and competitive standing, and expanding existing business relationships. Additionally, the Mortgage Banker II will develop a book of business through prospecting and servicing clients from assigned Banking Centers. Building strong rapport with clients and colleagues, and treating everyone with respect, are essential aspects of the role. Associates are required to maintain up-to-date knowledge and compliance with all relevant regulations and bank policies, including BSA and OFAC requirements.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in Business, Finance or equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in mortgage banking.
  • Advanced knowledge of RESPA/government regulations for residential mortgages.
  • Knowledge and experience operating within Dodd-Frank regulations.
  • Proven track record of success in the mortgage lending industry.
  • Must be/become registered and licensed in the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS) as required by the S.A.F.E. Act.
  • Ongoing compliance with all mortgage regulatory requirements and related NBH's compliance policies including acceptable background check investigation results.

  • Proficient in MS Office applications which include Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Generation of mortgage loan production from banking center provided leads, referral sources, realtors, builders, and consumer networking groups.
  • Originate ≥ 60 units of first mortgage loan products annually.
  • Develop referral partner relationships with NBH Banking Center Associates.
  • Align mortgage priorities with the “Client Experience”, compliance, audit and operations.
  • Monitor marketplace competition and trends to incorporate them into the sales strategy.
  • Identify referral sources and collaborate with all internal stakeholders to increase the Bank’s presence and competitive status.
  • Expand existing business relationships and servicing clients (increase wallet share).
  • Develop a book of business through prospecting while also servicing assigned Banking Center’s clientele.
  • Build a great rapport with clients and fellow associates and treat others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position.
  • Maintain current knowledge and consistent compliance with regulations and bank policies and procedures related to the position, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) requirements.
