Mortgage Loan Processor
About The Position
As a Mortgage Loan Processor at Space Coast Credit Union (SCCU), you will help guide approved first mortgage loans from application through closing. Your responsibilities will include reviewing loan files for completeness and accuracy, coordinating required documentation, supporting borrowers and business partners, and ensuring timely, compliant closings that exceed member expectations. SCCU is a not-for-profit organization committed to its members, offering a hybrid and flexible schedule with up to 3 days remote work per week, and prioritizing internal promotions and on-the-job training for career growth.
Requirements
- Two-year degree or equivalent experience required.
- 3–5 years of mortgage processing, mortgage closing, or banking experience related to review and process of mortgage applications required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain active NMLS registration before performing mortgage loan originator activities, when applicable.
Nice To Haves
- Mortgage closing or mortgage processing experience preferred.
- Familiarity with TRID and investor guidelines, including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, and VA, preferred.
Responsibilities
- Review and process conventional, FHA, VA, and other first mortgage loan applications for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with lending guidelines.
- Verify borrower income, assets, employment, credit history, and funds to close; ensure approval conditions are satisfied before closing.
- Order and review appraisals, title commitments, flood certifications, and other third-party documentation within established timelines.
- Submit complete loan files to underwriting, follow up promptly on conditions, and manage a pipeline of approximately 20–40 loans in line with department goals.
- Communicate clearly with borrowers, Realtors, closing agents, and internal partners regarding documentation, file status, and closing arrangements while maintaining confidentiality.
- Resolve member questions and file issues efficiently while meeting established productivity, loan quality, regulatory, attendance, and service standards.
