As a Mortgage Loan Processor, you'll play a critical role in helping our members achieve their homeownership goals by guiding mortgage and home equity loans through the processing stage. In this role, you'll review and validate loan documentation, coordinate with borrowers and third-party partners, and proactively manage loan conditions to keep files moving toward a successful closing. You'll serve as a trusted point of contact throughout the lending process, delivering exceptional service while ensuring all regulatory, investor, and underwriting requirements are met.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of residential mortgage and home equity lending processes.
  • Understanding of mortgage underwriting guidelines, documentation requirements, and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Ability to analyze income, assets, credit, and property documentation with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple loan files simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with borrowers, business partners, and internal teams.
  • Ability to identify issues, solve problems, and work proactively to keep loans on track.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to delivering an excellent member experience.
  • Proficiency with mortgage loan origination systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze loan applications, income, asset, credit, ownership, and property documentation to ensure loan files meet underwriting and product guidelines.
  • Conduct comprehensive pre-underwriting reviews to identify and address potential issues before submission to underwriting.
  • Review credit reports, resolve alerts, verify liabilities, and obtain explanations or supporting documentation as needed.
  • Initiate welcome calls and communications with borrowers, setting expectations and providing ongoing status updates throughout the loan process.
  • Order and monitor appraisals, title work, flood certifications, surveys, and other required third-party services.
  • Review title reports and coordinate with title agents and members to resolve any title or lien issues.
  • Obtain and review verifications of employment, deposits, rent, mortgages, insurance, and other required documentation.
  • Collect, review, and validate documents requested by underwriting to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Discuss and lock interest rates for home equity loan products when applicable.
  • Partner closely with loan officers, underwriters, borrowers, real estate agents, insurance agents, title companies, appraisers, and other vendors to facilitate timely closings.
  • Maintain accurate loan documentation and imaging standards to ensure files are complete, compliant, and audit-ready.
  • Monitor loan pipelines and proactively manage deadlines, conditions, and outstanding requirements.
