About The Position

The Mortgage Loan Originator is responsible for loan origination and relationship management with builders, borrowers, operations, and realtors. This role involves originating both Captive (home builder clients) and Non-Captive Loans, including providing weekend coverage in builder communities. The position requires building partnerships with homebuilder Sales Representatives, developing non-Captive loan business through referrals, and educating/marketing to prospective business sources. The originator will prepare applicants for loan meetings, obtain necessary signatures, submit files through the Automated Underwriting System, review documentation for accuracy, manage the loan pipeline from application to closing, and assist in resolving post-closing issues. Constant communication with the borrower throughout the loan process is essential.

Requirements

  • Tennessee Mortgage Loan Originator License (NMLS) required.
  • Ability to obtain Additional Mortgage Loan Originator Licenses (NMLS) as needed per production needs.
  • Weekly travel within the state.
  • Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and valid motor vehicle liability insurance are required.
  • Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements.
  • Ability to maintain a “Customer is the Most Important” focus.
  • Candidates cannot be on the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) Excluded Parties List (EPL), HUD Limited Denial of Participation List (LDP List), or Federal Housing Finance Agency’s (FHFA) Suspended Counterparty Program (SCP) list.

Responsibilities

  • Originate Captive (home builder clients) and Non-Captive Loans.
  • Provide weekend coverage in builder communities.
  • Build successful partnerships with homebuilder Sales Reps through calling on Sales Agents and attending Builder Sales Meetings.
  • Develop non-Captive Loan business through leveraging relationships established via Captive business.
  • Offer loan origination services to Realtors, ask for referrals from homebuyers, and follow up with prospects who do not purchase builder homes.
  • Educate, train, and market to prospective business sources (captive and non-captive) via sales presentations and sales calls.
  • Prepare prospective applicants for the initial loan application meeting.
  • Obtain required signatures on the Loan Application, and submit file through Automated Underwriting System.
  • Review all documentation provided by borrower, check for accuracy and address any issues up-front.
  • Manage Pipeline from loan application to closing.
  • Assist in resolving post-closing/funding related issues.
  • Maintain constant communication with borrower throughout loan process.
