About The Position

MPB Mortgage, a division of Mid Penn Bank, is actively seeking a Mortgage Originator. The Mortgage Originator is responsible for actively participating in the Company’s sales and business development program to develop new mortgage business, achieving goals as established in the department’s annual operating plan. This individual will coordinate work within the department as well as with other departments, complying with operating policies and procedures established for the mortgage origination function.

Requirements

  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in related positions required.
  • Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; proficient interpersonal relations, communicative, and sales skills; thorough knowledge of current mortgage lending regulations; a working knowledge of operating policies and procedures which impact mortgage loan services; a thorough knowledge of the features and benefits of all mortgage loan products and services; ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach with hands or arms, use hands to manipulate objects, handle or feel, and lift items weighing 20 lbs. or less; visual, auditory and speaking skills; valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a member of the sales "team" and works with other members of the sales/service team in striving to increase sales opportunities.
  • Meets with customers to take applications and issue required disclosures, facilitates underwriting and approval process, and attends loan closings.
  • Jointly establishes quantitative sales objectives, with assigned supervisor, on an annual basis; this activity to be done in conjunction with the Lending Division's annual marketing/sales plan; achieves these objectives.
  • Completes loan applications and coordinates the loan process, loan approval, etc. and attends loan closings.
  • Maintains a current knowledge of laws and regulations which impact mortgage services.
  • Responds to inquiries relating to his/her particular area, or to requests from customers, other personnel, etc., within given time frames and within established policy.
  • Coordinates specific work tasks with other personnel within the department as well as with other departments in order to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information.
  • Maintains appropriate records and provides assigned reports.
  • Develops relationships with customers, employees, realtors, builders, and community and civic organizations to promote goodwill and generate new business.
  • Meets with prospective customers to present financial services and to ascertain needs; maintains detailed records of meetings with prospective customers.
  • Obtains information from customers; develops and presents mortgage product recommendations based on customer’s needs.
  • Communicates with management and staff personnel in order to integrate goals and activities.
  • Plays an active role in protecting the organization and its customers against fraud by incorporating risk awareness and prevention into daily responsibilities.
