About The Position

As a Mortgage Loan Originator at Community First Credit Union, you will build and manage a strong pipeline of conventional mortgage loans, anticipate underwriter requests, and guide members through the home-buying process. You will work with a team of mortgage professionals to help ensure home loans are completed on time. The role also involves recognizing members’ individual needs and offering mortgage solutions and other relevant credit union products and services.

Requirements

Associate’s degree in banking, finance, business, or a related field.
Three or more years of consumer and/or mortgage lending experience.
Strong knowledge of mortgage lending, secondary market products, underwriting guidelines, and loan processing.
Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite and web-based software packages.
Ability to work hard, find solutions, and have fun.
Passion for providing outstanding service to internal and external members.

Responsibilities

Thoroughly interview loan applicants and understand each member’s profile, proactively identifying needs related to mortgage lending and other credit union products and services.
Request information for loan applications; record information; complete supporting mortgage lending documents; collect necessary fees; and review applications for completeness.
Analyze applicants’ financial status, credit history, and property evaluations to determine the feasibility of granting loans.
Communicate and assist with processors, underwriters, and closers to build a strong origination team.
Interact with branch locations to develop internal and external member relationships and increase cross-selling opportunities.
Participate in and facilitate sales, credit union, and mortgage team meetings as requested.
