About The Position

The Mortgage Loan Originator is responsible for developing banking relationships that meet lending guidelines, provide a fair rate of return, and minimize risk to the Bank. This role involves enthusiastically supporting the bank sales function by providing exceptional service to internal and external customers. The originator will consult with and assist in the completion of loan applications from consumers, analyze, underwrite, document, and approve or deny consumer loan requests within established lending limits and policy guidelines. They will be responsible for the collection of originated loans, and for the deposit and consumer loan sales growth and profitability of the location. Additionally, the role requires representing and promoting the bank at sponsored events in the community to generate referrals through community, civic, and volunteer efforts. The position also involves assisting employees with internal bank operations, updating knowledge, and participating in training opportunities. The role holder must fully comply with all applicable enterprise policies and procedures, and act in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, and is responsible for reporting suspicious activity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • A minimum of five years previous banking or related experience required.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with strong sales orientation and ability to identify opportunities to connect the customer with banking partners to grow their financial relationship.
  • Computer literacy including experience with Office Suite, MS Word, and other computer software products.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the Bank and collaborate with internal and external business partners.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize a diversified workload, handle multiple tasks concurrently; exercise good judgment in all areas of responsibility; and work effectively under pressure and deadlines.
  • Sound understanding of the local communities which we serve and proven community involvement.

  • Participate in internal and external training and development opportunities as required.
  • Perform other duties as may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this role.

  • Act in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations as outlined in training materials, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act.
  • Responsible for reporting suspicious activity to the AML/CFT team.
