About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Mortgage Loan Originator to join our lending team and support the accurate, timely, and compliant processing of mortgage and real estate loans. This position evaluates borrower financial information, credit, and property documentation to make or recommend sound lending decisions in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate is a dependable professional with strong analytical and interpersonal skills who enjoys working with members, collaborating with a team, and providing exceptional service throughout the lending process.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Two (2) to six (6) years of mortgage underwriting experience in a full-service financial institution; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Strong knowledge of mortgage lending, underwriting, credit analysis, and real estate lending practices
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to analyze financial and credit information and exercise sound judgment
  • Knowledge of applicable lending regulations, policies, procedures, and secondary market requirements
  • Ability to manage multiple applications and meet established processing timelines
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively in a team environment
  • Commitment to exceptional member service and professional conduct

Responsibilities

  • Reviews mortgage loan applications and interviews applicants to obtain and verify required information
  • Analyzes borrower financial information, credit history, and property evaluations to determine loan feasibility and make or recommend lending decisions
  • Communicates with applicants, creditors, and internal departments to resolve questions and application issues
  • Ensures loan documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with applicable policies, procedures, regulations, and secondary market requirements
  • Identifies lending opportunities and recommends appropriate loan and credit union products and services
  • Collaborates with processors and other department personnel to facilitate timely loan processing and closing
  • Performs related lending functions, including escrow analysis and data entry
  • Maintains accuracy and confidentiality while following established lending and underwriting practices
  • Provides professional, responsive member service and supports team objectives
  • Performs other duties as assigned
