About The Position

The Mortgage Loan Officer (MLO) is responsible for sourcing new mortgage loan business from leads generated both inside and outside the Bank. This role involves taking loan applications, reviewing them, and providing applicants with a list of necessary supporting documents. The MLO will set realistic expectations for the mortgage loan process, provide regular updates to applicants and interested parties, and discuss relevant mortgage-related facts and issues with applicants concerning their ability to repay, bank credit policy, and documentation required for underwriting. Familiarity with Bank credit policy and guidelines from GSEs, FHA, and VA is essential.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Knowledge of Bank consumer mortgage lending policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Understanding of financial analysis and determination of credit worthiness.
• NMLS certified.
• 3 to 5 years of prior mortgage banking experience.
• Working knowledge of FNMA/FHLMC, FHA, VA.
• Excellent communication and public relations skills.
• Financial analytical skills.
• Solid interviewing skills.
• Able to use related computer applications and business machines.
• Valid driver license in your State.
• Maintain required automobile insurance.
• Abide by the standards for cell phone use as described in the employee handbook.
• Ability to withstand moderate physical activity throughout the workday (standing, walking, reaching, driving).
• Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds on occasion.

Responsibilities

• Originate eligible mortgage loans by focusing on marketing activities to generate referral activity from Prosperity Banking Centers, realtors, home builders, financial planners, networking groups, trade associations, and personal spheres of influence.
• Meet minimum production expectations: 5 units or $1.0 Million in eligible loan volume monthly, and a 90-day rolling average of 15 units or $3.0 Million in eligible loan volume.
• Visit assigned Prosperity Bank locations regularly to build internal relationships, educate bank employees on introducing bank customers to the mortgage department, and identify opportunities to introduce non-bank mortgage customers to Prosperity Bank's financial services with a warm handoff to bank employees.
• Establish and maintain effective communication, coordination, and working relationships with bank personnel in the mortgage fulfillment area and with management.
• Present oneself in a professional manner, representing Prosperity Bank with the highest level of professional conduct and ethical behavior, ensuring customer data security and acting in the best interest of the Bank.
• Meet with potential customers to understand their financial needs and present suitable mortgage products.
• Oversee the customer experience throughout the entire loan process, from origination and analysis to loan closing.
• Stay informed of and abide by lending standards and related legal requirements, strictly adhering to all Bank policies, regulatory, and legal requirements.
