About The Position

The Mortgage Loan Closer Senior promotes member financial well-being through coordinating preparation and disbursement of Mortgage loan documents in accordance with underwriting approval. This position engages members and meets with them in person or remotely to sign closing documents while enriching the members experience and deepening their relationship with the credit union. The Mortgage Loan Closer Senior provides subject matter expertise to the Mortgage Closing team and identifies and communicates improvements to the departments operating methods and procedures.

Requirements

  • Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
  • A two-year college degree, or completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.

Responsibilities

  • Verifies accuracy and consistency of specifications on title abstracts, insurance forms, and other required documents.
  • Assembles documents for delivery to title company, or lending officer for closing.
  • Calculates loan interest, principal payment, and closing costs, either by computer or using factor table and calculator.
  • Types closing documents.
  • Prepares initial and subsequent closing disclosures.
  • Verify that disclosure tolerances are within regulatory guidelines, complete and prepare file for servicing and post-closing.
  • Perform 2nd level review on closing documents prepared by other closers for accuracy.
  • Reviews approved mortgage loans to determine conditions that must be met prior to closing.
  • Reviews returned documents for accuracy and completeness prior to funding.
  • Prepare and balance closing numbers and arrange funding wire or checks by working with other departments within the Credit Union and settlement agents to ensure funding of the transaction in a timely manner.
  • Conduct necessary mortgage loan closings by meeting with members in person or remotely to sign final loan documents, answer questions regarding closing requirements and communicates funding of loan to member.
  • Maintain a high level of service and confidentiality with courteous and effective communication with all interested parties including members, title companies, realtors and attorneys throughout the closing process.
  • Supports the Mortgage Closing team by accepting unresolved complex member inquires and works directly with members to research and explore potential solutions to provide alternatives within company policy.
  • Follows escalation processes to direct members to appropriate team member as needed.
  • Assists department training for current or new employees by sharing knowledge and expertise of internal procedures, how compliance or other regulations affect processes, and helping employees be confident in job functions relating to Mortgage Processing and Mortgage products and services.
  • Identifies and makes recommendations to improve the department's operating methods, training and procedures.
  • Collaborates with other departments on member service delivery and process development projects.
  • Maintains knowledge of all credit union products, services, and promotions to market all internal and external sources to sustain loan production.
  • Contributes to efficient Credit Union operations by performing other job related duties as assigned.
