About The Position

As a Mortgage Advisor supporting BECU’s Spokane Home Loan Center, you’ll play a key role in helping individuals and families achieve their homeownership goals while expanding BECU’s presence in new communities. You’ll build meaningful relationships with both new and existing members, guiding them through the mortgage journey with expertise, confidence, and personalized support. In this role, you’ll serve as a trusted mortgage resource, partnering with internal teams, real estate professionals, builders, and community partners to create exceptional member experiences. Your ability to identify needs, recommend appropriate lending solutions, and navigate complex mortgage scenarios will help members make informed financial decisions. Beyond serving members directly, you’ll also elevate the mortgage expertise of branch teams through coaching, mentorship, and collaboration, creating a lasting impact across the organization. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work or education related experience required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in mortgage loan production, including conventional, FHA, and VA products.
  • Minimum 2 years of mortgage loan sales experience, and/or consultative sales experience in financial services or a financial institution.
  • Compliance with SAFE Act legislation, which requires annual registration as a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for mortgage products, services, and processes from application through funding, helping members navigate every stage of the home financing journey.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with both new and existing members through thoughtful needs assessment, personalized solutions, proactive follow-up, and exceptional service.
  • Contribute to individual and team goals within assigned centers and branches by enhancing the member experience, supporting referral generation efforts, and fostering mortgage growth opportunities.
  • Build and expand mortgage referral relationships with members, employees, realtors, builders, and other professional partners to generate new business opportunities.
  • Mentor branch and center teams in identifying mortgage opportunities, understanding member needs, and improving mortgage-related processes and service delivery.
  • Participate in community organizations and events to promote BECU’s mortgage products and services, strengthen community connections, educate potential members, and generate new business opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with members to negotiate loan terms and conditions consistent with credit union policies, procedures, and lending guidelines.
  • Evaluate files submitted through automated underwriting systems, identify opportunities to address deficiencies, and partner with underwriters when additional review is required.
  • Maintain expertise in federal and state lending regulations, particularly mortgage and home equity lending requirements, and share updates and guidance with team members.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of mortgage and consumer loan products and features to identify lending opportunities and support member financial goals.
  • Develop and apply expertise in mortgage loan origination systems (LOS), underwriting, processing, guidelines, and tracking tools while coaching and training colleagues as needed.
  • Monitor developments in the mortgage industry and local real estate markets to provide informed guidance and identify emerging opportunities.
  • Create new mortgage relationships through prospecting, networking, and lead generation activities that support BECU’s growth objectives.
  • Serve as an escalation resource for member issues, providing thoughtful solutions and ensuring a positive, member-focused experience.
  • Perform additional duties and contribute to special projects as assigned.
