About The Position

BJ’s Wholesale Club is seeking a Morning Custodian to perform general maintenance and cleaning duties, ensuring high standards of safety and sanitation for members and team members. This role involves maintaining the cleanliness of all club areas, including the sales floor, offices, restrooms, and exterior grounds. The custodian will also be responsible for gathering carts and flatbeds from the parking lot, removing debris, and ensuring carts are well-stocked, clean, and in good working order. Additionally, the role includes returning merchandise to the sales floor, performing various cleaning tasks such as mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, and trash removal, and operating equipment like the floor scrubber, trash compactor, and cardboard baler safely. The custodian will also perform minor building repairs and maintain club policies and procedures. This is a part-time position.

Requirements

• Must successfully complete required training and certification processes.
• Prior maintenance or janitorial experience preferred, but not required.
• Prior retail/wholesale experience preferred.
• May be less than 18 years of age to perform parking lot cart functions.
• Must be over 18 to operate equipment and enter age restricted areas.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of this job.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and cleaning duties to uphold high standards of safety and sanitation.
• Gather and return carts/flatbeds from the parking lot to the club entrance.
• Maintain the cleanliness of all areas of the club, including sales floor, offices, restrooms, and exterior grounds.
• Remove trash or debris from the parking lot, cart corrals, and exterior of the club.
• Ensure carts are well-stocked at the club entrance and verify they are in working order and clean.
• Remove carts that are not suitable for use.
• Return new and unused merchandise to the sales floor.
• Perform maintenance and cleaning duties including wet and dry mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, carpet extracting, washing glass, emptying trash receptacles, and pulling pallets.
• Maintain outdoor grounds of club property, including cart corrals, sidewalks, and outdoor trash receptacles.
• Prioritize maintenance and cleaning responsibilities efficiently across the club.
• Operate floor scrubber, trash compactor, and cardboard baler machines safely and efficiently.
• Restock maintenance/cleaning supplies and ensure supply areas are clean, neat, and organized.
• Perform minor and routine building repairs and notify management of major repair needs.
• Maintain all club policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including working in other departments as needed.
• Deliver service excellence through all points of contact.
• Resolve and deescalate to address every member concern.
• Ensure a safe and positive environment and experience for members.
• Greet, Anticipate, Appreciate (GAA) members.
• Work as a team to deliver GOLD club standards daily.
• Work with commitment and pride to deliver a Grand opening look daily.
• Ensure all items are stocked and promotional plans are executed.
• Maintain visible, accurate signage.
• Ensure the club is clean and organized, inside and out.
• Understand how to access and read production and/or financial performance reporting for your department.
