About The Position

Ascension Catholic School is seeking a dependable, caring, and attentive Morning Care Assistant to supervise students before the start of the school day. The ideal candidate will help create a safe, welcoming, and structured environment where students feel supported and are prepared for a successful day of learning. This individual will model kindness, responsibility, and respect while supporting the Catholic mission and values of Ascension Catholic School.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to supervise and manage groups of children calmly, consistently, and effectively.
  • Friendly, patient, dependable, and attentive demeanor.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for all students.
  • Ability to arrive on time and work scheduled early morning hours consistently.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and actively interact with children throughout the shift.
  • Willingness to supervise students both indoors and outdoors, as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with children in a school, daycare, church, or similar setting preferred.
  • Practicing Catholic preferred; candidates of other faith backgrounds must demonstrate respect for and support of the Catholic mission and values of Ascension Catholic School.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise students during morning care hours, ensuring their safety, well-being, and appropriate behavior at all times.
  • Greet students and families in a warm, friendly, and professional manner.
  • Monitor student interactions and encourage respectful, kind, and positive behavior.
  • Provide age-appropriate activities, including reading, drawing, quiet games, and other supervised activities.
  • Maintain a calm, organized, and structured environment that helps students transition smoothly into the school day.
  • Ensure an orderly handoff of students to classroom teachers or designated classroom aides at the start of the school day.
  • Follow all school safety procedures, policies, and supervision guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate student attendance records and communicate attendance concerns as needed.
  • Communicate professionally and respectfully with parents, teachers, staff, and school administration.
  • Report student concerns, safety issues, or other relevant incidents promptly to school leadership.
  • Provide supervision indoors or outdoors as needed, depending on weather conditions and school guidelines.
  • Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating patience, kindness, professionalism, and respect for the school's Catholic values.
