About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate educator to join our team at Okemos Public Montessori @ Central as a Part-Time Montessori PPK Teacher. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Montessori principles and a commitment to fostering a nurturing and engaging learning environment for young children. This role involves working closely with children aged 3 to 6 years, guiding their development through hands-on activities and individualized instruction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field preferred.
  • Montessori certification (AMI or AMS) or willingness to pursue certification.
  • Previous experience working with young children, preferably in a Montessori setting.
  • Completion of any mandatory licensing requirements or trainings for 3 and 4 year old students
  • Strong understanding of child development and Montessori principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic classroom environment.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere for all students.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement age-appropriate Montessori curriculum and activities that promote the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development of children.
  • Create a warm, inviting classroom environment that encourages exploration and independence.
  • Observe and assess children's progress, adapting lessons and activities to meet individual needs and interests.
  • Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues, maintaining open communication regarding children's development and classroom activities.
  • Collaborate with other educators to create a cohesive learning experience across the Montessori program.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and community events as required.
  • Uphold Montessori principles and philosophy in all interactions with children and families.
