About The Position

Lubbock Heart & Surgical Hospital is looking for a dedicated Monitor Technologist to join their team. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary.
  • Basic EKG course and one year’s experience with cardiac monitor interpretation including knowledge of paced rhythms.
  • Know how to manage electronic files.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring cardiac rhythms.
  • Obtaining and accurately interpreting rhythm strips on telemetry patients.
  • Notifying nursing and/or physician staff of all EKG changes, malignant and potentially lethal arrhythmias.
  • Obtaining and interpreting EKG strips for documentation.
  • Obtain report information regarding patients being monitored to include history of cardiac rhythm, ode status, admitting diagnosis and applicable medications or therapies.
  • Record telemetry strips on each patient to include appropriate lead, ventricular rate and rhythm, atrial rate and rhythm, PR, QRS, ST & T-wave measurements using calipers) and final interpretation of cardiac rhythm.
  • Ensure delivery of telemetry strip and completed interpretation of rhythm is delivered to appropriate patient care area every shift.
  • Notify appropriate nursing staff upon identification of a benign rhythm change in any patient, interpret and document the rhythm strips and deliver to the appropriate nursing station.
  • Document electrocardiogram (EKG) changes to accompany notification of patient physician.
  • Notify appropriate nursing staff and charge nurse upon identification of lethal or malignant cardiac rhythm.
  • Obtain and interpret monitor strips of cardiac activity intermittently or continually for documentation and delivery to the appropriate unit.
  • Maintain open communications with patient care areas regarding quality of telemetry transmission, patient activity/transport/admission/and discharge to ensure continuous and accurate monitoring of patient’s cardiac activity.
