About The Position

At Cornerstone Specialty Hospitals, patients receive acute care from a physician-led care team specializing in treating patients with complex conditions. Our attending physicians see their patients every day, and physicians with specialties in pulmonology, cardiology, infectious disease, and general surgery may also participate in your care. Our nurses are also experienced in treating complex conditions, and all nurses in high-acuity units are certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Additionally, patients with serious respiratory illnesses have 24/7 access to a respiratory therapist. Job Summary Monitors heart rhythm pattern of patients to detect abnormal pattern variances, using telemetry equipment. Review patient information to determine normal heart rhythm pattern, current pattern, and prior variances. Observes screen of cardiac monitor and listens for alarm to identify abnormal variation in heart rhythm.

Requirements

  • Must read, write and speak fluent English
  • Must have good and regular attendance
  • Satisfactory score on EKG interpretation competency test
  • Ability to accurately identify cardiac rhythms and understand their significance
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support Like AHA or Red Cross Within Facility-Specified time frame
  • EKG - Electrocardiogram Certification within Facility-Specified time frame Upon Hire

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent including education equivalent to completion of secondary school or demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors telemetry of patients by observing telemetry monitors for changes in cardiac rhythms
  • Removes and cleans telemetry boxes when patient is discharged from telemetry
  • Maintains accurate records of telemetry patients
  • Immediately notifies RN or supervisor of rhythm changes
  • Assigns transmitters and wires and sets up the monitor system for all telemetry ordered patients
  • Troubleshoots transmitters and wires and sets up the monitor system for all telemetry ordered patients
  • Stays abreast of federal, state, and local regulations for food safety and sanitation
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
