All internal and external applicants will be required to take a Dysrhythmia class and must successfully pass the required test within 60 days of employment with the following exception: Applicants with EKG certification or previous MT experience will be provided the option to take and pass the Dysrhythmia test in lieu of taking the class. Successful passing of the test will allow the MT to be exempt from the requirement of taking the initial class. All employees will be required to successfully pass the advanced dysrhythmia test every 6 months (April and October each year)
Nice To Haves
EKG certification preferred
1 year of monitor technician experience preferred
1 year of healthcare experience (i.e. Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, MT) preferred
1 year of medical terminology experience preferred
Responsibilities
Assume responsibility for monitoring cardiac rhythms
Perform telemetry monitoring duties
Alert nurse to respond to alarms resulting from rhythm changes
Alert nursing assistant or other competent staff member to respond to equipment or reception alarms (such as “leads off” or “low battery”)
Print and document strip assessment every four hours, on admission, during a code, upon request and as rhythms/rates change
