Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • BLS
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English

Responsibilities

  • Admits and discharges patients from the cardiac monitoring system
  • Continuously monitors patients on cardiac telemetry, ensuring accurate surveillance and prompt recognition of rhythm changes.
  • Communicates cardiac rhythms and any significant rhythm changes to nursing staff as requested or in accordance with department policy.
  • Prints, interprets, and documents cardiac rhythm strips per policy; forwards completed rhythm strips to the Unit Secretary for filing.
  • Applies critical thinking skills to effectively monitor patients, manage telemetry equipment, and adjust alarm settings in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Troubleshoots telemetry equipment and reports malfunctions or concerns to the appropriate personnel.
  • Ensures accurate telemetry billing input and enters other applicable patient charges as required.
  • Maintains accurate documentation and adheres to departmental, regulatory, and patient safety standards.
