About The Position

Under the supervision of an RN, performs telemetry monitoring. This role requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. The technician must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Handle with Care (HWC) certification within 6 months of hire/transfer
• Critical thinking skills

Responsibilities

• Performs continual surveillance of multiple monitors.
• Identifies significant arrhythmias and/or signs of patient distress and intervenes appropriately.
• Identifies and corrects for artifacts.
• Reports abnormal assessment and telemetry findings or changes in patient physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
• Tests equipment for proper working order.
• Reports equipment problems to supervisor.
