About The Position

The Monitor Technician, Epilepsy is responsible for ensuring patient safety and monitoring patient activity. This role involves maintaining constant visual surveillance of patients via camera, documenting relevant information, and communicating effectively with medical staff. The technician must be able to recognize seizure activity, troubleshoot equipment issues, and ensure all safety protocols are followed. This position is crucial for providing continuous care and immediate response to patient needs within the Epilepsy department.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support are required.
  • Experience using computers is required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Basic computer skills and comfort with technology
  • Ability to self-motivate and stay focused on task

Responsibilities

  • Ensure patient is on camera.
  • Document relevant information on computer and chart.
  • Use Medical Records system to verify patient history and information.
  • Communicate often with physicians, nurses and clinical staff about patient activities.
  • Maintain focus on patient movements and activities.
  • Recognize seizure activity to alert staff and activate patient event alarm.
  • Recognize, troubleshoot and alert staff to computer issues.
  • Document equipment and recording issues.
  • Communicate with patients and families.
  • Ensure patient safety protocols are being followed.
  • Sign out to next shift by communicating any issues and concerns along with updated documentation.
