It is also one of the busiest Emergency Rooms in the Cleveland Clinic enterprise. By joining the Emergency Department as a Monitor Technician, you will perform ongoing surveillance of patients' cardiac monitors and provide appropriate nursing staff with timely notification of changes in cardiac rhythm and/or hemodynamics that could impact patient condition. Here, you will work on a helpful team of compassionate caregivers while enhancing your skills through various learning opportunities. This position is also a great gateway to other positions within Cleveland Clinic. A caregiver in this position works nights from 6:45PM – 7:15AM, with weekend and holiday requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Knowledge and understanding of basic patient care activities through formal training program in Allied Health or a healthcare field (e.g., Nursing, Medical Assisting, EMT or a similar field) OR one year of patient care experience in a hospital, nursing home or healthcare setting
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy/physiology, computer and typing skills
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of EKG/Cardiac Monitoring Course
  • Experience as a Monitor Technician
  • Demonstrated skill in recognizing abnormal cardiac rhythms

Responsibilities

  • Perform ongoing surveillance of patients’ cardiac monitors, cardiac rhythm and vital signs.
  • Notify appropriate nursing staff of any changes according to clinician, provider orders and/or in accordance with departmental protocols.
  • Interpret patient cardiac/hemodynamic rhythm and document in the electronic medical record.
  • Answer the telephone and communicate clearly when receiving and delivering information.
  • Orient and mentor new caregivers, serving as a training and troubleshooting resource for the CMU and nursing units.
  • Provide reports for the oncoming shift.
