About The Position

The Monitor Technician assists in patient care by monitoring all patients on cardiac telemetry units; identifies rhythms, changes, and dysrhythmias; maintains communication with nursing; and states/reports to the charge nurse. Expectation is for all performed duties to be in accordance with Singing River Health System procedures and policies, accreditation organization, and governing guidance and publications for health care employees.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.
Successful completion of a course in medical terminology desirable.
Able to successfully pass a basic EKG course and identify rhythms and arrhythmias.
Must complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer.
Proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.), Microsoft products, and to access and update digital medical files.
Keen mental faculties/assessment and decision making abilities during intense crisis or emergency situations.
Superior communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in complex situations.
Ability to maintain collaborative and respectable working relationships throughout SRHS and other organizations.
Superior customer service skills and professional etiquette.
