Requirements

High School Graduate or GED, upon hire
One year of Monitor Technician experience
Emergency Medical Technician: AZ, upon hire or Certified EKG Tech, upon hire

Nice To Haves

Yearly EKG competency completed 100% on lethal arrhythmias
No error noted by EKG certified RNs
Complete yearly competency with 80% or more accuracy
Proper documentation/ approval of parameter changes by Physician order or an ECG certified RN

Responsibilities

Continuous observation and analysis of patients' cardiac rhythms to detect and report changes.
Meticulously monitor EKG strips, identify arrhythmias, measure intervals, and promptly communicate critical findings to nursing staff and healthcare providers.
Ensure accurate documentation.
Read basic EKG tracings and identify potential/lethal arrhythmias.
Measure important intervals of the EKG strips.
Check and maintain accurate settings of "yellow alarms" for each shift.
Properly admit a patient to the monitoring system including patients' last name/first initial, medical record, diagnosis and physician's name.
Continuously monitor and identify dry rhythm changes during a 12-hour shift.
