About The Position

The Monitor Technician maintains surveillance of the Franciscan Telemetry Unit, and interprets and documents cardiac rhythms and vital signs. In addition, the Monitor Technician monitors patient care and emergency protocols to ensure individual physician protocols are adhered to. Requirements

High School Diploma/GED
Must take and pass an EKG arrythmia test.

Nice To Haves

1 year of EKG technician experience
1 year of ECG interpretation experience
Candidate should be able to identify arrhythmias, interpret and document cardiac rhythms, maintain constant telemetry surveillance, communicate changes promptly to the appropriate personnel, troubleshoot telemetry equipment and procedures, and prepare equipment for admissions and transfers.

Responsibilities

Identify arrhythmias on patient EKG and notify appropriate personnel.
Interpret and document cardiac rhythms.
Maintain constant telemetry surveillance and relay and document pertinent information to appropriate personnel.
Provide telemetry strips when a new patient arrives, and/or any time change occur in patient rhythm or condition.
Troubleshoot problems with equipment and/or procedures.
Prepare telemetry equipment and anticipate patient admissions and transfers to the unit.
Answer telephones and route callers, take messages, and provide routine information to clients or customers.
