About The Position

Cabell Huntington Hospital is seeking a part-time Monitor Tech/Clerk position to work with our Cardiac Stepdown Department. The Monitor Tech/Clerk position is a dual role which is performed according to the position assigned by the charge nurse. If assigned to the monitor tech role, the primary purpose is to monitor the central telemetry station and document arrhythmias according to the policy. This is a support role to nursing, therefore, reducing the amount of time the nurse spends monitoring the patient’s heart rhythm. If assigned to the unit clerk role, the primary purpose is to provide clerical and receptionist duties to the nursing unit. This is also a support role to nursing, therefore, reducing the clerical duties of the nurse. Customer service is valued by the individual as evidenced by: 1)being courteous to our customers, which include our patients, visitors, physicians, volunteers and fellow employees; 2) introducing self by name and job title when speaking in person or by telephone to patients, their families and others; 3) demonstration of honesty, discretion in conduct, and confidentiality in conversation in all of work environment. The individual follows standards of conduct and procedures of hospital and applicable laws and regulations and reports violations through appropriate chain of command. The individual reports safety concerns and hazardous conditions in a timely and appropriate manner.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Basic EKG & rhythm strip recognition class – Required
  • Proof of coursework (or equivalent work experience) in medical terminology, anatomy & physiology
  • CPR within 90 days of employment
  • Satisfactorily pass a pre-hire exam (80%)
  • Up to 1 Year Experience is Required

Responsibilities
