About The Position

Mayo Clinic is seeking a Monitor Technician for their Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (PCU) on the night shift. The Monitor Technician is responsible for providing continuous ECG monitoring to inpatient telemetry patients. This role involves maintaining close communication with nursing care units regarding patient monitoring and arrhythmia notification, and following emergency procedures for critically acute code situations. The work environment operates 365 days a year. The Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit at Mayo Clinic Arizona is a high-acuity team specializing in cardiovascular and thoracic patient care, staffed based on patient acuity with numerous resources available 24/7. The department is expanding to a newly designed space with 46 beds and cares for a variety of cardiac patients including those with Congestive Heart Failure, CV Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Heart Transplant, Pulmonary Hypertension, Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVAD), Pulmonary Artery Catheters, Ultrafiltration, Post Cardiac Procedure, and those requiring Titratable Medications and Arterial Lines. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be highly organized, efficient with advanced critical thinking skills to work in this team oriented environment.
  • Must have a keen attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays and weekends.
  • Adapts to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required upon hire and must be valid for 90 days or greater from start date.
  • Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous monitor technician experience preferred.
  • Completion of some college level coursework preferred.
  • Previous healthcare experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT) preferred. (Cardiovascular Credentialing International)
  • Telemetry monitoring experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Providing continuous ECG monitoring to inpatient telemetry patients.
  • Maintaining close communication with nursing care units in regards to patient monitoring and arrhythmia notification.
  • Following emergency procedures for critically acute code situations.
  • Working in an inpatient hospital environment and/or work area that operates 365 days per year.
  • Successfully completing Mayo Clinic’s ECG competency and monitor training course within designated time frame after hire.
