About The Position

Assist the driver in the safe operation of the route and manage students as defined or identified by the school. The role helps transport children safely to and from school and includes supporting student loading and unloading, bus inspections, emergency procedures, and bus cleaning. The Monitor/Aide works with drivers, school personnel, parents, and students, and follows company policies, applicable laws, and safety guidelines.

Requirements

Good verbal communication skills.
Ability to work early morning hours.
Maintain a professional and respectful attitude toward fellow employees and customers.
Dress professionally and appropriately for a business environment.
Ability to use or learn to use the internet, additional programs as required, and office equipment, including fax machines, phones, or other electronic devices.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Ability to speak Spanish preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

Learn and follow a route sheet or electronic routing device.
Manage student behavior and communicate behavior problems to the driver.
Assist with pre-trip and post-trip bus inspections, including child checks, CSRS, and wheelchair lifts.
Assist students with loading and unloading, including use of the wheelchair lift.
Cooperate and communicate with school personnel, parents, and students.
Attend safety and training meetings.
Conduct emergency bus evacuations, including exiting through the emergency door.
Clean the inside of the bus, including sweeping, dusting, and cleaning windows.
Perform other specialized functions as required by contract.
Perform job functions safely and in accordance with OSHA guidelines, applicable federal and state laws, and company policies and procedures.
