About The Position

This role assists the driver in the safe operation of the school bus route and manages students as defined by the school. Key responsibilities include student management, communication of behavior issues to the driver, assisting with bus inspections and student loading/unloading (including wheelchair lifts), cooperating with school personnel, parents, and students, attending safety meetings, conducting emergency evacuations, and cleaning the bus interior. Specialized functions may be required by contract.

• Ability to use or learn to use internet, additional programs as required and office equipment, including fax and phones or other electronic devices
• Ability to successfully complete dexterity test and DOT physical and comply with drug free workplace policy

Responsibilities

• Ability to learn and follow a route sheet or electronic routing device
• Student management and communication of behavior problems with the driver
• Assisting in pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus, including child checks, CSRS and wheelchair lifts
• Assisting students in the loading and unloading process including wheelchair lift
• Cooperating and communicating with school personnel, parents and students
• Attending all safety and training meetings
• Conducting emergency evacuation from the bus, including exiting from the emergency door
• Cleaning the insides of the bus including sweeping, dusting and cleaning windows
• Other specialized functions as required by contract
