About The Position

This role assists the driver in the safe operation of the route and manages students as defined by the school. The position requires the ability to learn and follow a route sheet or electronic routing device, and is responsible for student management, communicating behavior problems to the driver, and assisting in pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus, including child checks, CSRS, and wheelchair lifts. The aide assists students in the loading and unloading process, including wheelchair lifts, and cooperates and communicates with school personnel, parents, and students. Attendance at all safety and training meetings is required, as is the ability to conduct emergency evacuations from the bus, including exiting from the emergency door. Responsibilities also include cleaning the inside of the bus, such as sweeping, dusting, and cleaning windows, and performing other specialized functions as required by contract.
