About The Position

The Monitor-Aide assists the driver in safely operating the route and manages students as defined by the school. The role includes supporting students while boarding and exiting the bus, assisting with inspections and emergency procedures, communicating with school personnel and families, and keeping the bus interior clean. The aide is expected to follow company procedures and applicable safety requirements and attend safety and training meetings.

• Perform job functions safely, adhering to OSHA guidelines and applicable federal and state laws.
• Follow company policies and procedures while performing job duties.
• Ability to use or learn to use the internet, additional programs as required, office equipment such as fax machines and phones, and other electronic devices.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Learn and follow a route sheet or electronic routing device.
• Manage student behavior and communicate behavior problems to the driver.
• Assist with pre-trip and post-trip bus inspections, including child checks, CSRS, and wheelchair lifts.
• Assist students with loading and unloading, including use of the wheelchair lift.
• Cooperate and communicate with school personnel, parents, and students.
• Attend safety and training meetings.
• Conduct emergency bus evacuations, including exits through the emergency door.
• Clean the inside of the bus, including sweeping, dusting, and cleaning windows.
• Perform other specialized functions as required by contract.
